Yesterday (21.7.2003) more than thousand mainly teachers and their supporters, like students organized in Da-hamkke (All Together), took the streets of Seoul to protest against the government?s plans to implement NEIS. But the South Korean government gave also a new reason for to protest: Last Thursday, July 17th police arrested Won Yeong-man, the president of Korean Teachers Union (KTU) for "taking illegal actions".

We, the peoples, are hostages to three fundamentalisms. One is Muslim: the Wahhabite Sunnis, from Saudi Arabia, responsible for the criminal September 11 attack a year ago. One is Christian: the Puritan Protestants, from England who set the tone for what became the United States. Both think they are Chosen People, by their God.

After the attacks of September 11, nothing will be as before. This sentence, a disastrous threat, could be read and heard everywhere in the last months. Under the mantle of the "worldwide war against terrorism", Interior minister Otto Schily bundled his security packages I and II and steered them through the cabinet. The veil slowly fell hiding the advance of a "totalitarian spirit" (Burkhard Hirsch) that already drifted among the anti-globalization movement and other activists before the attacks. The question raised is whether everything is really different after September 11.
